Bain established Webster Drilling in 1983 and has 56 years in the drilling industry, onshore, offshore, oil and gas, seismic, oil drilling operations project management, both nationally and internationally. Bain remains heavily involved in all facets of the business and rig package design.

Jeff has 44 years in the industry as a petroleum geologist with project management and administration both nationally and internationally. A core component of Jeff’s work is his continual liaison with the scientific drilling community to keep Webster’ abridged of the latest projects and developments in the scientific drilling sector.

He has 25 years’ experience in the oil, gas, geothermal and general drilling contracting industry, and is highly competent in rig package design, equipment acquisition, compliance and system operations. Luke is also responsible for the companies IT and computer-controlled drilling technology systems and the co-development of the rig systems a Safety Cases, and the Company Safety Management Systems alongside the HSE Manager.

Michelle has worked at Webster’s for 26 years, and is responsible for the day-to-day administration, including managing accounts for New Zealand and international operations to ensure timely payment of wages and invoices. She also oversees the companies HR processes and supports the wellbeing of all staff, contributing to a positive workplace.

Hayden is a Senior Project & Operations Manager with 26 years’ experience managing projects from quote to completion on New Zealand and International projects predominantly in the geotechnical, anchor, micro-pile, seismic and oil & gas sectors.

Kyle is a Senior Project & Operations Manager with 20 years’ experience in New Zealand, Antarctica and overseas, with drilling experience covering geotechnical, anchor, micro-pile, seismic and oil & gas. Kyle oversees the majority of the companies rig system design and manufacture, along with Bain, Adam, Luke and Mike. As well as developing inhouse IT and Data management systems for obtaining the best use of our drilling records and data.

Rhys Thomas is the HSE Manager for Webster’ and has 25 years’ experience in high-risk industries, ensuring the health and safety of everyone involved in the work carried out by the Webster Group. His work focuses primarily on supporting frontline teams through training, coaching, and development to improve safety outcomes, strengthen safety understanding, and enhance feedback into systems and initiatives. He is responsible for developing and maintaining the Webster robust safety systems, fostering our strong safety culture, and providing targeted reporting and insights to the management team, and supporting continuous HSE improvements for both the organisation and its clients. Rhys has been extensively involved in the development of both companies Safety Management Systems, Safety Cases, and is responsible for our relationship and liaison with the WorkSafe High Hazards Unit (HHU).

Adam Rutten is the Engineering and Workshop Manager for Webster’s. He has over 20 years of mechanical & hydraulic engineering experience, including 13 years in the drilling industry. Extensive involvement in geotechnical and scientific projects across New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, the Pacific Islands and Antarctica. He is skilled in the maintenance and manufacture of drilling equipment for seismic, geotechnical, scientific, and oil & gas applications, with an advanced proficiency in CAD design and modelling. Adam has also worked extensively on the Nova-1 and Big Ben rig packages as the on-shift Mechanical tradesman.
